Artlife has taken quite a back seat for some time and within those small windows of being able to draw etc. after these months of self-reflecting came to realize one thing: your state of emotions reflects the quality you see on your art.


Hope this second-coming of an intervention help me on the long run.



p.s. Went to KOMIKON 2011 weeks back to go get me the new Pasig indie etc and was pained not to see an Elias.


Oh, well....

...I went over to the Point Zero Booth, purchased a copy of PASIG: Epilogue by (which I guess was late on purchasing) and browsed it quickly....


(there's a chance that) ELIAS is ALIVE!? OH.HALE.NAW. NO.YOU.DIDN'T.


As pathetic as it may sound, that alone made my whole day. Haku and Zabuza from Naruto a week ago and now Elias?! Thank you, Universe. Thank you.

Then I suddenly remembered that Elias too might come back as a "Shell of his former self" like Haku and Zabuza did. Oh well, I guess you just can't get everything. Just happy for their returns even though it isn't as complete. SO EXCITE~!

My part of DA has been quiet lately, mostly due to work, the usual culprit . I'm still keeping up with my account whenever I get the time though so that my watch logs won't be overstocked. I have stocks of unfinished art and still unrealized sketches on my PC and I'm a bit sad that I have less of a time on going back at them.

Nevertheless just this past week I went back into sketching in my itty bitty sketchpad and did some line-art-ing on an idea that came to me. It's a bit frustrating that I'm crawling back into learning some basics here and there, but what I really realized is that recently I have lost the "FUN" factor in doing art. There are times that I am a bit too critical with it, being too mindful of proportions, cleanliness of line art and other stuff making me deviate or worst, procrastinate.

I remembered some quotes and philosophoes from one of the dA Greats, . She has mentioned that she doesn't really focus on the proportion but more on the flow, and yet she produces some incredible works. Come to think of it, most of the arts that appeal to me aren't really the most super duper polished ones.

I really need to be more looser in terms of being so uptight with my expectations. So this time around I'm focusing on bringing that joy back, that fun drive. Hopefully it would benefit in the long run.

POSITIVENESS~

Went to the Metro Comic-Con 2010's 2nd day although i arrived there at 4pm whereas the opening was 10 AM! thank you waking up late and Philippine Traffic.


- Thanks to my fellow peeps who welcomed me there

- I hated the fact that my salary comes weekly, hence i wasn't able to splurge and was on budget watch on my whole short stay there DRATS. Nevertheless my addiction to TRESE increased immensely, i like so fought hard not to read the 3rd book so that i can buy it myself to repay Budjette and Kajo's awesome creation. Sorry Budjette, i lied to you when i said that i have the first 2 books, i read it off from a friend. My patience paid off with this one though, come the time when i have enough funds the first two books shalt be in my hands!

- Next time i'm going to be much earlier... and hopefully if ever an event like this pops up with more than a day I should be able to attend the first day! Lesson learned the hard way.


P.S. IMO the last "entertainment" act for the 2nd day should not be repeated, i think those kind of music fit better for clubs and not conventions specially in the subject matter that is Comics and other viewed-as-nerdy stuff.

.... because for the most part I got EDWARD. I EFFIN HATE THIS CHARACTER. I'd rather have the Jacob AV as a substitute poison.


Could've been better if it was the Legend of the Seeker or the Lady GaGa ones.
